My work comprises surreal representations that dwell within the concept of Inevitability. By universally capturing fragments of our lives that we have lived and would either yearn to relive or never – childhood memories, time, freedom and struggle – I deconstruct these elements, by instilling a dreamlike and unreal quality within them and depict them in a world which I perceive to be perfect, like a Utopia.
I have always loved drawing. I feel it enables me to liberate my imagination, explore and delve deeper within most of the themes of my paintings. My compositions are mostly pictorial and schematic, and hover far from the edge of reality. I deliberately incorporate a part of abstraction within my paintings through an 'automatic drawing', a series of tangled and twisted lines that collectively represent my conscious and unconscious thoughts.
Although I do love experimenting, I tend to be very persistent with the mediums I use. I mostly stick to acrylics because of its versatility. The artists I admire the most are Magritte, Dali and Kandinsky.
