Sudharak Olwe (1966) is a Mumbai-based documentary photographer, whose work has been featured in national publications and exhibited in Mumbai, Delhi, Malmo (Sweden), Lisbon, Amsterdam, Los Angeles, Washington and Dhaka. Sudharak has travelled the length and breadth of this nation and seen first-hand some incredible stories of resilience, courage and change. He has worked in tandem with many NGOs presenting their extraordinary work with both rural and urban communities.
He has drawn immense admiration and awe in the Indian subcontinent for revealing the naked reality of life’s tragicomic social theatre. In 2005, he was one of the four awardees for the National Geographic‘s “All Roads Photography Program”. He was awarded the Padma Shri, one of India’s highest civilian honors for his social work in 2016.
Sudharak’s photography is that of empathy. It is a journey into the rarely seen worlds of the human condition and his photographs provide the viewer with deep poignant perspective. His art cuts across all barriers and presents to you moving stories of individuals and communities.
