Born in 1976, Uday Mondal is an accomplished artist with a BFA in Painting from the Indian Art College, Kolkata (1999) and an MFA from MS University, Baroda (2002). His work thoughtfully portrays societal themes in a lucid and thought-provoking manner, transcending politics, religion, and gender to strike a deep chord with viewers. Mondal has held several solo exhibitions, including notable showcases at Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai (2005), and Gallery Beyond, Mumbai (2006). His participation in group exhibitions spans prestigious venues such as the IMA Foundation, London, and CIMA Art Gallery, Kolkata, along with international events like the Singapore Art Fest. His work has also been part of curated shows such as “Cutting Chai” by Sandhya Bordewekar and “Reality Bytes” at CIMA Art Gallery. Recognized for his artistic excellence, Uday Mondal has received awards from the West Bengal State Academy and the Indian Art College, along with the prestigious Sushila Devi Memorial Medal for his mastery in oil painting.
